10 Things to do at Pihopa Retreat

When you are booking your stay here at Pihopa Retreat, you may be coming to see the wonderful Nelson Tasman region, but we wanted to make you aware of all the fabulous things you can do on our doorstep.

    1. Go for a Bike Ride
      We have 4 new mountain bikes ready for you to ride! Grab one and cycle the Great Taste Trail which goes past just outside our front door. Don’t forget your helmet and water bottle.
    2. Have a Spa
      We have a beautiful new spa pool perched on the top of the property giving magnificent views of the surrounding area, it’s especially special at night when the stars are out!
    3. Take a dip in the pool
      We have a beautiful, heated swimming pool available for guests to use, with comfy sun loungers to spend a few hours curled up with a book.
    4. Take a heritage tour around the historic church and property
      Our church was built in 1877 and the property itself is steeped in history, having been purchased in 1862.  We have 14 heritage trees on the property and a heritage woodland.  We are always happy to show you around.
    5. Enjoy a grazing platter in the garden
      With so many beautiful spots in the garden to enjoy and soak up the birdlife, grab a picnic rug from us, order a delicious grazing platter and enjoy!
    6. Enjoy our garden games
      Games such as Croquet, Boules and Giant Chess are available behind the main house for you to enjoy.
    7. Sit on your balcony and enjoy a glass of wine
      Your room comes with a balcony, to sit and enjoy the garden and city views from, you have a complimentary bottle of wine in the fridge, the perfect excuse to take time out from the normal day-today speed!
    8. Go for a walk
      We have 5.5 acres of Heritage woodland for you to enjoy, next door, through a secret garden gate at the bottom of our orchard, there is 5 acres of council reserve to wander through and behind the house are the Grampians with endless tracks to walk if you wanted something a little more physical.
    9. Enjoy the fire pit
      We have two fire pits at Pihopa Retreat, grab a glass of wine as dusk hits and we’ll be happy to light a fire for you to sit around and be mesmerised by the flickering flames.
    10. Pick some fruit
      We have a lovely little orchard to meander through, with apples, figs, plums, peaches, lemons, macadamia nuts, cherries, avocados, grapefruit, blackberries, grapes and mandarins, sometimes in abundance, we’ve included these in your room when in season but feel free to pick more when required.
